The visual quality of many rooms is determined by the daylight admittance or by the design of the artificial lighting. When choosing lighting fixtures or the layout of windows, we often use fairly simple calculation programs, which calculate the illuminance or the so-called daylight factor in rooms with an uncomplicated geometry.
However, for complicated spaces, the Radiance ray-tracing program is deployed to create 'real-world' visualizations or 'snapshots'. With this tool, the colour and intensity of each pixel on the snapshot is calculated separately in order to show the result of all relevant light sources inside and outside the room. The characteristics of every type of wall covering and glazing can be factored into the simulation. The intensity of the illuminance and luminance are also determined precisely.
